About This Quilt |
|
This piece – Pyramids on Purple – was exhibited in my 2021 Crypt Gallery show under the title: Four Pyramids – Purple and Grey. Interestingly, it had a companion piece with the title: Four Pyramids – Blue and Grey. I was playing with shape and colour.
I can’t be certain where the idea of the repetition of the pyramid shape in a vertical line came from – but I remember the satisfaction and pleasure of working with those shapes. So much so that I repeated the motif in a different colour range. I recall the first piece was in purple and grey and the second piece in blue and grey – that was the order of production; purple first, then blue.
This piece, together with the work titled: Tribute to Mondrian in the 2021 Crypt show and now renamed Light Through A Mondrian Prism in this Marazion exhibition, show my increasing interest in the colour Purple and its capacity to engage and enthral.
My Pyramids on Purple piece measures 39.5” x 51.5”. |
