About This Quilt |
|
Whatever the origins, Purple is where I now found myself. So what better than to immerse myself in a sea of purple. You could call this my cubist response – this time, twenty squares, black and lilac, performing their design role in orchestrated regularity. I love this exploration of colour and shape.
Part of me, though, rebels against the ordered structure. At least the quilting suggests the rather more chaotic and free-flowing nature of our actual daily lives.
Once again, the edging is vital. It provides the frame to capture the moment. Leo and Larisa, our photographers, have suggested taking some of my pieces and inserting them in white, wooden frames - St Ives Frames, as they are called. It’s an interesting idea. We will see the impact in due course.
